Blue light blockers could be making your health worse.
“What do you mean I can’t just put on a pair of glasses and call it a day?”
While blocking artificial blue light (the light our biology uses to tell time) is important in protecting the circadian rhythm of our body, it may also have damaging consequences.
While we have photoreceptors in our eyes, we also have photoreceptors on our skin meaning that just because you’re blocking blue light from your ocular system…
Oh wait, does that mean my ocular system extends far beyond my eyes because I have photoreceptors such as melanopsin in my entire body? Yes, yes it does.
When we block artificial blue light from our eyes, we are protecting our circadian rhythm but the photoreceptors in the skin are still sensing the blue light and using that input signal as information to change our physiology.

Any artificial light in our eyes throws out the purposely balanced wavelengths of light that God designed for our optimal function. Just because we are blocking the blue light, doesn’t mean that we’re not still receiving incorrect information through our eyes that can cause harm.
Narrow peaks in the pink spectrum have been shown to negatively affect mental health, this is a common theme in the “light left over” from popular blue light blocking glasses that have been cheaply made.

Some blue light blocking glasses have been designed better than others. You need to opt for a lens technology that does not allow for any narrow peaks. This is a safer alternative.
My advice is to wear blue light blockers (the red kind) at night when blue light cannot be avoided. Wear yellow during the day when bright artificial blue light cannot be avoided and there are no open windows.
Opening a window during the day and sitting by it without blue light blockers on can be debatably better for you than wearing blue light blockers even though the ratio of blue light is still greater.
Vivarays are by far the best I’ve found, and are a brand I completely align with. They are 100% metal free which means they do not hold onto nnEMFs and have no nasty narrow light peaks.
You can use KIERA for some savings.
